Event Planning & Management During the COVID19 Pandemic Crisis

Event planning and management is stressful during “normal” times, and can be especially challenging during a world-wide pandemic. Should organizers cancel, or postpone? How will organizations raise necessary funding without their signature events? What about weddings? 5K run/walks? Regional workshops and destination meetings? Sporting events?

Each type of event will have special considerations, a few of which include budget, break-even events vs. fundraising, how far participants may be traveling from, and how much lead-time is necessary to pull off the event properly. An event that requires registration in advance will have different considerations than an event that allows at-the-gate ticket sales, or needs sponsorships to break even. Is it possible that a former “live” event could be held online? Could an early Summer season event be postponed to Fall? Could an event be combined with another complimentary event to create something even greater? There are many considerations.

This resource library is here to help event planners and organizers find answers to some of these questions. This library will be updated and added to regularly as more resources become available. If you have specific questions or need guidance, please email JoEllen DesRocher at joellen@visitalpena.com.
