Let’s show some love for our public lands and waters through a cleanup!

Join Great Lakes Great Responsibility for a cleanup event on Saturday, May 9 along the shores of Lake Huron at Rockport State Recreation Area.

Each year over 22 million pounds of trash enter the Great Lakes. Let’s take action to prevent trash on land from becoming marine debris & microplastics.

CLEANUP DETAILS:

Anyone & everyone is welcome! Be prepared to clean up trash with like minded individuals who are passionate keeping the Great Lakes clean. Get ready to laugh and have a great time!

This is a rain or shine event. In case of severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will send all registrants a cancellation email. Please also stay up to date via our social media pages.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Sturdy footwear! Let’s stay safe while we help Mother Earth.
• Reusable water bottle — let’s stay hydrated and prevent single-use plastic.
• Cleanup materials will be provided, but we welcome you to bring your own gloves, buckets & trash grabbers.

WHERE WE WILL MEET:

Rockport State Recreation Area, Alpena County. Look for the turquoise tent.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

10:00am Registration/Check-In
10:10 – 11:40am Cleanup time! We will work our way through different sections of the park.
11:40am Bring trash back to turquoise tent to share your trash count/weight
12:00pm Celebrate our collective impact + group photo
