It’s that time of year again. The air starts to get crisp, we start obsessively thinking about pumpkin everything, and most importantly…the Thunder Bay Winery celebrates its Harvest Festival!
If you caught our July newsletter (sign up and subscribe here), you read about Thunder Bay Winery‘s trip down memory lane. Where they started, the trials and tribulations in between, to where the winery is now 7 years later.
With over 1,600 vines in Thunder Bay Winery’s vineyard (about 4 acres of vines total), and an additional acre dedicated to other types of fruit – apples, pears, cherries, red currants, elderberries, and mulberries – all are utilized in wine and cider making and are ready for the upcoming harvest. When it comes to harvesting, it’s an all-hands-on-deck operation! Tasting room employees, production facility employees, family members of the staff, and a number of volunteers help out year after year, bringing in a special community feel every year during harvest time.
With that being said, the 7th Annual Harvest Festival celebration begins on Saturday, September 14th at 4 p.m. on 2nd Ave. in downtown Alpena. There will be two live bands – Troy Graham, Way Out Wayne & the KopyKatz, outdoor games, the grape stomping competition, Devils River 3-legged race, tasty eats, a free shuttle service to and from Austin Brothers Brewery’s anniversary party, and of course a never-ending flow of wine, including our famous Harvest Berry Sangria! Only $8 if you purchase your ticket in advance or $10 at the door.
*Get $2 off your ticket price if you bring in a Thunder Bay Winery glass from a previous year*
Spread the word and join in! Cheers!
