In the beginning…

Breakfast buffet

JJ’s Steak and Pizza have been serving the Alpena community breakfast, lunch, and dinner for over 20 years now! Here’s a look back at JJ’s history as told by owner Jon Benson.

“We started out on October 3, 1993. My father and I started out with a small little family restaurant with a small little kitchen with a pass-through window. In 1995 we started up a small catering business, JJ’s Catering, that continues to grow. In 1997 we did a significant remodel to JJ’s Steak & Pizza that added an additional room called Magoo’s for entertainment with a DJ for parties and dancing. We also added a whole new kitchen where the pizza parlor oven was. We then converted the old kitchen into a catering kitchen. In 2003 we started a “Grill your own Steak” oven. Then in 2005, we changed it back to a catering kitchen and also opened up a catering and rental business where we rent tables, chairs, and china glassware, as well as any other catering needs that arise. My family, staff, and I would like to thank our customers for allowing us to serve them for the last 20 years, we are looking forward to the next 20 years!”
