Art in the Loft 

Crafts range all over the spectrum at Art in the Loft. Check out their winter workshops on their website; they offer everything from pillow-making to yoga to smartphone photography. Corkscrews and Canvas is a huge hit amongst locals, paint masterpieces while sipping on the freshest rosé or wine of your choice. Culinary workshops are also available year-round, such as “Kids in the Kitchen” with Jess Krawczak. Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library

The public library offers different classes for children and teens to express their creativity throughout the month. For March (2026), be sure to check out their Teen Pop Art or Lego club. You can find their calendar of events here.

Silent Creative Club

Much like a silent book club, this is a new monthly event where everyone joins together to create and work on their arts and crafts projects. Writing, crocheting, knitting, sketching, collaging, etc., bring your current craft or art project, your own supplies, and spend an hour creating with optional time to socialize before and after. All attendees are responsible for purchasing their own food and drinks, bringing their own supplies, and cleaning up after themselves at the end of the hour. This event is currently held at PIFCider.

Thunder Bay Arts & Gallery

Located in the heart of Downtown Alpena, the Thunder Bay Arts Gallery is a collective of artists’ work on view and for sale. The gallery exhibits many works from our local community, alongside other initiatives such as YouthCore and a Featured Artist rotating exhibit and open house. The gallery and council also put on Art on the Bay every year during the first weekend of the Brown Trout Festival.

Illuminate Wellness 

Illuminate Wellness is located at 112 Water St. in downtown Alpena and is a metaphysical shop that offers everything from crystals, stones, and salt lamps, to acupressure and other therapies. This March, be sure to sign up for their dreamcatcher making class, or a class with Sol Rah Spirit using sound for relaxed meditation.
