Another year has passed and it’s national wine day again! Our Sanctuary of the Great Lakes offers two beautiful wineries serving authentic Michigan wine right here in Alpena. Whether you prefer red, white, dry, or sweet, enjoy your glass (or bottle…we are not judging) at one of these sophisticated Alpena wineries.

(Listed alphabetically)

Stoney Acres Winery– Nestled just outside the city limits in a forest of tall pines, this boutique winery serves a wide variety of wines from grape, fruit, limited edition wines, and signature lighthouse wines. Enjoy a glass on their beautiful outdoor patio and flower garden complete with a waterfall fountain (hello, relaxation!). Pair your wine experience with gourmet caramel corn, hand-dipped wine truffles, or plenty of other sweet treats to satisfy. This is the perfect spot for a quiet afternoon and beautiful scenery with friends, family, or your significant other.

Thunder Bay Winery– Located in the historic Center Building in bustling downtown Alpena, this elegant tasting room paired with knowledgeable staff creates an authentic wine tasting experience. Taste a variety of samples from inside Thunder Bay Winery’s tasting room overlooking Second Ave., or from their outdoor sidewalk tables. The perfect spot for a glass of red, people watching, and enjoying a downtown city atmosphere with the people you love. Wine samples include whites, reds, rosé, fruit, and dessert.

Whether you choose to pour, sip, and repeat at Alpena’s wineries or from home, show us how you “wine down” by posting on Instagram and using hashtags #sanctuaryofthegreatlakes #alpenawinedown #nationalwineday. And as always, wine down responsibly!
