This unique tree full of skates and hockey pucks is brought to you by Northern Lights Arena.

Once again, Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan has brought us the beauty of world traditions relating to Christmas. Each year during their “Season of Light” display, Besser Museum offers us a walk through nations around the world to see how different cultures celebrate Christmas. A Pagan forest display prior to the birth of Christ, Native American prayer sticks, the colorful flowers of a Brazilian Christmas tree, and the familiar traditional German tree adorned with glass bulb ornaments, representing many American family traditions to this day. Trees from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Japan are also fully decorated with historic facts for your viewing pleasure. Fun fact: Ever since the 1970’s it has been a tradition in Japan to eat KFC for dinner on Christmas. Wanna know why? Visit the Besser Museum today to find out!

Among the Trees of Nations are also Community Trees. The Community Trees are aptly decorated by local organizations within the Alpena community and are truly some of the most unique trees you will see this holiday season. Among them are trees decorated by the Alpena County George N. Fletcher Library, Boys & Girls Club of Alpena, AHS First Robotics Teams, Youth Volunteer Corps, Pied Piper School, and many, many more!

So while you are home in Alpena for the holidays, bring your family and take a walk down Alpena’s historic path where you can immerse yourselves in the cultures of Christmas. On display for a limited time only!
