Alpena is no exception to the popularity of brunch and offers a variety of restaurants to please the palate and satisfy your brunch-y cravings. Here are a handful of local favorites with a must-try item from each!

Connie’s Cafe serves GIANT cinnamon rolls!

1.) Connie’s Café: “Jumbo Grilled Cinnamon Roll”

This sweet treat is not your average cinnamon roll. Home-baked to perfection and three times the size of a normal cinnamon bun, with the option to add pecans and seasonal frostings such as pumpkin spice in the fall, this delectable pastry is the most popular of many different baked goods available from Connie’s signature breakfast dishes.

2.) The Fresh Palate: “’Merican Eggy Bread”

Brunch is served on Sundays at Fresh Palate during the spring and summer seasons in Alpena. (Sometimes for select holidays, too, check their Facebook page for updates!)

3.) Nick’s Southside Diner: “Southside Big Breakfast”

Take a step back in time in this 1950’s style diner for the perfect traditional dish for the hungry man (or woman!). Play a song on the jukebox and enjoy 3 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of sausage, 2 pieces of ham, and hash browns with toast. Sure to keep you full ‘til dinner!

4.) JJ’s Steak & Pizza House: “JJ’s Omelet”

This namesake omelet consists of Applewood smoked bacon, onions, and mushrooms which is then topped off with American cheese and stuffed into a folded egg omelet. Tasty and hearty, this omelet comes with toast and the option to add hash browns or American fries on the side or inside your JJ’s Omelet.
