It’s time to try your luck at catching Big Brownie again! The 47th Annual Michigan Brown Trout Festival begins this weekend, Friday July 16th.

2021 Tournaments

4th Annual Brown Trout Tournament – July 17th – July 25th. $4,000 for 1st place Brown Trout. $2,500 for 1st place Salmon, Lake Trout, Steelhead, and Walleye. *Based on 325 registrants.

44th Annual Two Day Super Tournament – July 24th and July 25th. Sponsored by Lappan Agency, Auto Owners Insurance, and Lafarge Holcim Presque Isle. Tentative $10,000 for 1st place. Starts 6 am and 2 pm each day.

32nd Annual White Claw Ladies Classic Tournament – July 22nd. Sponsored in part by Alpena Beverage Co., MBTF. $1,200 for 1st place. Starts 6 am with 4 pm weigh-in.

1st Annual Youth Offshore Tournament – July 21st. Sponsored in part by Clark Construction Co. & MBTF. Ages 12-16. Starts 6 am with 3 pm weigh-in.

1st Annual 3 Day High Stakes Tournament – July 17th, 18th, and 19th. Winner takes all in 5 different categories. Sponsored in part by Devere Industrial LLC, Meijer, & Frank’s Great Outdoors. Starts 6 am and 2 pm each day.

7th Annual Thunder Bay Bass Classic – July 18th. Guaranteed $1,500 1st place. Starts 7 am with 3 pm weigh-in.

Stan Konecke/Dennis Koopikka Memorial Kids’ Tournament – July 17th – 25th. Free to kids ages 6-16 years old.

8th Annual PNC Bank Kiddie Classic Tournament – July 18th. Free to kids ages 1-14 years old. 7 am to 12 pm. Awards at 2 pm.

Saturday, July 17th – Dueling Pianos. Presented by Friends Together and Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union. $25.00 admission. Doors open at 6:30 pm – show starts at 7:30 pm. Must be at least 21 – ID required.

Sunday, July 18th – PNC Bank & MBTF Family Fun Day. Noon – 2:30 pm, free school supplies for the first 450 children in attendance ages 3-12; bike helmets by MidMichigan Medical Staff; meet Alpena Firefighters & Police Officers; Home Depot DIY take home building kit; Sea Lamprey exhibit by Great Lakes Fisheries; take home a tree compliments of Alpena-Montmorency Conservation District; tour Emergency vehicles on display including the new MSP In Plain Sight trailer; enjoy FREE snacks provided by Meijer; meet Richard Rensberry, author of children’s book “Big Brownie”, on site to autograph books. PNC Bank Kiddie Classic Fishing Tournament – registration at 7:00 am.

Wednesday, July 21st – Honoring Our Veterans Night. 6 pm tent opens, FREE admission/public welcome. Picnic style hotdogs, chips, and more surprises. Program begins at 7 pm. Alpena City Band performing, prizes throughout the evening, honoring all men and women in uniform, and all front line workers.

Thursday, July 22nd – Teen Night! with DJ Max from 107.7 The Bay. $5.00 per person, 8 pm – 11 pm. NO purses or bags of any kind allowed. Ages 17 & under. Sponsored by Pepsi.

Saturday, July 24th – 1st Annual Optimist Car Show. Suez Big Tent bar will open for beverages and seating during the show. Registration 3 pm – 5 pm, show from 5 pm – 8 pm. FREE admission.

Sunday, July 25th – Exchange Club Tony Burgers. Starting at noon, FREE admission. Fishing tournament awards & raffle drawings at 6 pm.
