The morning air has a certain crispness. Leaves are changing color. The fog rolls in. It’s “spooky” season!

Murder mystery dinner at Rosa’s Lookout Inn.

While October will culminate in costumes and candy for kids, many adults will spend the month attending themed costume parties and dinners. Murder mystery events are popular any time of year, but our interest in playing detective seems to peak this time of year when dressing up and pretending to be someone, or something, else is a huge part of the fun of the season. Alpena area businesses recognize this and are prepared to delight and entertain.

For two back-to-back nights, October 17th and 18th, Rosa’s Lookout Inn will host their annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. In addition to the interactive dinner theater, the events include a wine tasting, three-course dinner, costume contest, and raffle. You even get a bottle of San Silvestro wine to take home with you. A portion of the proceeds go to Feed the Need – Alpena. This event is so popular the Sunday night dinner is already sold out. For more information, including how to get tickets, visit their Facebook page.

Thunder Bay Resort will host two back-to-back Murder Mystery Weekends. You read that right – an entire weekend of sleuthing. The first will take place on Halloween weekend (October 29th-31st) and the second will be the first weekend of November (November 5th – 7th). Festivities kick off with a dessert reception Friday evening and continue until the murderer is revealed Sunday morning. While detective work is the main event of the weekend, guests will also enjoy a gourmet dinner and wine tasting and elk viewing on Saturday evening with time in the late morning-early afternoon to pursue their own interests.
